Day 6 ~ I Feel Like Doing the Bop

Everybody Bop ’til you Drop in the hot the city. . .(name that song for my internet high five)

Screen Shot 2014-04-04 at 9.41.35 PMThe Bop is a rather recent Form that poets have grown to love.  Created by Afaa Michael Weaver the form consist of 3 movements.

  • The first stanza (six lines long) states the problem,
  • 1-2 line refrain(s),
  • the second stanza (eight lines long) explores or expands upon the problem,
  • 1-2 line(s) refrain,
  • the third stanza (six lines long) is a resolution – if there  is one,
  • and the final refrain.

The refrain is the interesting element here as many people take the refrain from a song.

Here is an example from the creator of this form, Afaa Micahel Weaver:

And my very own attempt using a line from “Collide” by Maroon Five.  (Don’t you judge me; it’s a great line)
